WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. — Tops Friendly Markets here last week said it has named Sam Qureshi to the newly created post of director of produce and floral marketing. He will be responsible for procurement, pricing, merchandising, marketing and advertising for produce and floral. “Our goal for the 2009 growing season is to expand upon last year's successes, and place an even greater focus on our continued expansion of locally grown, fresh produce with a focus on New York, Pennsylvania and Ontario homegrown,” said Patrick Curran, Tops' senior vice president of sales and marketing, in a prepared statement. Qureshi previously worked for Tops for 15 years as a store manager at the corporate level. Most recently, was a co-manager at Wal-Mart.
FORMER RILA VP JONES JOINS EBAY
SAN JOSE, Calif. — EBay here said Paul Jones, former vice president of asset protection at the Retail Industry Leaders Association, has joined eBay as global director of retail partnerships. Jones will work with eBay to bolster its ongoing efforts to prevent the sale of stolen goods through partnerships with law enforcement and retailers. EBay has reportedly been used by organized retail crime groups to sell stolen retail merchandise. Prior to his work with RILA, Jones managed loss prevention strategy at Limited Brands and Sunglass Hut International.
