Walgreens Boots Alliance Global Chief Communications Officer Aaron Radelet says he is moving on from the company, according to a post on his LinkedIn page.
The announcement comes just days after the retailer announced it would be cutting 10% of corporate jobs. Radelet said he is leaving for new opportunities.
Radelet served as Walgreens’ first chief communications officer when he was hired back in 2019. He navigated corporate communications during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the death of George Floyd. Walgreens stores were a target after Floyd’s death, as several stores were vandalized during protests.
“Our communications team has achieved record-high media visibility, favorability and reputation scores for WBA and our brands. I will never forget all the phenomenally inspirational stories we had the privilege to share in the midst of the pandemic — thanks to the astounding work of our colleagues around the world,” he said on LinkedIn.
On Friday, Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreens said it was eliminating 504 jobs, but none of those roles were based at its stores, fulfillment outlets, or call centers. Workers at the Deerfield and Chicago corporate offices would be the most impacted, according to reporting from the Chicago Sun-Times. Radelet is based out of the Chicago office.
