Walmart names Rogers new chief marketing officer

Wal-Mart Stores has named Tony Rogers SVP and chief marketing officer of Walmart U.S., according to an internal memo obtained by SN Friday.

Rogers, a 10-year Walmart veteran who currently serves as CMO for Walmart China, will begin his role in mid-Janauary. He will succeed Stephen Quinn, who announced plans to retire earlier this month. Rogers will report directly to U.S. CEO Greg Foran, and will have responsibility for marketing efforts including customer research, strategy, program development, branding and customer communication.

During his two years in China, Rogers has been focused on driving the day-to-day business while also building a world-class marketing function in country, the company said.

Prior to moving to China, he spent eight years in the Walmart U.S. marketing organization, where he held a variety of roles including SVP of marketing and VP, advertising.

Before joining Walmart, Rogers spent several years in PepsiCo's Frito-Lay division in a number of brand marketing roles.
