LYNDHURST, N.J. — Asian supermarket chain H Mart on Thursday will open a new store in Lakewood, Wash. — the first of three new Puget Sound area stores the retailer expects to open this year.

The 43,000-square-foot location in Lakewood is H Mart’s third store in Washington. It said it would open stores later this year in downtown Seattle and in Bellevue, Wash.

H Mart said its stores carry around 40% Korean items with the remainder “international” selections. The Lakewood store includes a pharmacy, deli, Korean bakery, meat department, fish department and expansive produce offerings.

H Mart, founded in New York in 1982, is short for “Han Ah Reum,” meaning “one arm full” in Korean.
