CHERRY HILL, N.J. — Whole Foods Market will open a new store at the site of a former Genuardi’s here, the retailer said Thursday.
The 47,000-square-foot Genuardi’s store closed in August when it went unsold as part of Safeway’s exit of the greater Philadelphia market. Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods said it planned to renovate the store, located in the Ellisburg Cicle shopping center, and would open in 2014.
“As the 13th New Jersey store for the company, we are thrilled to offer another location and option to our customers. Neighboring our Marlton store, the community will find the new store to rival and share many of the same amenities they have come to love and enjoy. We look forward to community engagement, opportunity, growth and creating job opportunities," Scott Allshouse, Whole Foods’ Mid-Atlantic region president, said in a statement.
