EDGEWATER, N.J. — As the largest of Mitsuwa Marketplace’s locations, the 92,750-square-foot store here packs in sizeable perishable departments, a food court and space for outside vendors selling cosmetics, electronics and more. Though other Asian groups and Americans also shop at Mitsuwa, the store considers its core Japanese clientele in every detail, from what items to stock to how they are packaged and displayed. Many fresh foods must be sourced closer to the store, but Mitsuwa imports unique packaged goods and nonfood items straight from Japan.
