Publix Super Markets has expanded to North Carolina, taking its well-known brand along for the ride. Company officials say stores in new markets “need to be really good in two things: quality and value, and the best at one: service.” Executing at those same attributes consistently in existing stores has provided the Lakeland, Fla.-based retailer with the brand strength to expand organically, while employee-owners have helped to perpetuate the Publix feel. Iconic slogan “Where Shopping is a Pleasure” has endured for 60 years.
