Heinen's Fine Foods and the Cleveland Clinic have expanded a nutrition labeling program that builds on the retailer's existing Healthy Appetites partnership identifying more healthful choices in Heinen's prepared-food department. The new initiative, which gives approved foods a green “Go!” label, extends to the entire store and includes stricter nutrition requirements. To be included, products must be certified by Cleveland Clinic experts to contain minimal amounts of saturated fat, added sugars and sodium; 100% whole grains; and no trans fats. Heinen's has also expanded its online health and wellness presence through the program, featuring good-for-you recipes as well as medical advice.
