Jewel Osco to Distribute 50,000 Camino Mágico Guides

CHICAGO — Jewel Osco will distribute 50,000 Camino Mágico pamphlets at health fairs and festivals throughout the greater Chicago area this summer. Created by the Latino Nutrition Coalition, the supermarket guide aims to help Latinos make healthier food choices. It features the newly redesigned Latin American Diet Pyramid, a calorie control guide, the basics of reading food labels and a supermarket map that puts suggestions in a real-world context. Chicago is the second city, following Houston, on a nationwide Camino Mágico tour targeting cities with significant Latino populations. “The more channels we use to put Camino Mágico into the public’s hands, the better,” said Liz Mintz, spokeswoman for the LNC, in a statement. “In addition to supermarkets, we are expanding the locations where Latinos may obtain this healthy eating tool.”
