NUTRITION INFO AVAILABLE FAST VIA CELL PHONE
BOSTON — Nutrition on the Go, a new program by diet.com, enables consumers to check out the nutritional profile of menu items in seconds via text messaging on their cell phones. In a statement to the press, diet.com officials said the program features a database of 1,700 restaurants, mostly QSRs, and 36,000 menu items. After putting the cell phone in text message mode, the consumer types in the menu item, and then sends it to DIET1 (34381). Calories, as well as grams of fat, carbs and protein, are then shown. For example, by texting “Subway Tuna Sub,” the consumer instantly would be sent “Tuna sub 6-inch, classic sandwich, calories 530, fat 31 G, carbs 45 G, and protein 22 G.” Diet.com is an online weight loss destination site that offers an active user-driven support community along with a lifestyle-based weight loss program.
