NEW YORK — Health magazine has ranked Whole Foods, Safeway and Harris Teeter as the Top 3 “healthiest” supermarket chains in the country. Trader Joe's, Hannaford Bros., Albertsons, Food Lion, Publix, Pathmark and Super Target were ranked Nos. 4 through 10, respectively. A panel of judges that included health professionals commissioned by Health surveyed the stores and ranked them based on criteria including the store's fresh produce, organics, and programs encouraging consumers to develop healthy eating habits.

WHOLE FOODS HostS ‘SHRIMPSGIVING’

AUSTIN, Texas — Whole Foods Market yesterday announced the arrival of “Shrimpsgiving” in its seafood departments nationwide. The shrimp promotion encourages shoppers to consider using shrimp as a dish or an appetizer for holiday gatherings this fall. The company will promote shrimp with special pricing — such as precooked, tail-on farm-raised shrimp from Thailand at $8.99 per pound.
