PHILADELPHIA — Tips for eating healthy on a budget, free dental checkups for kids, and low-fat grilling presentations were among the festivities scheduled to take place here yesterday in the ShopRite Pavilion, part of Philadelphia’s 29th Annual Unity Day celebration. Product samplings of grilled chicken prepared with Lawry’s seasons and marinades, free drawings for gift baskets, and blood pressure screenings were also part of the retailer’s health and wellness-themed plans. Dental exams were to be provided to children ages 1 through 12 by the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures Mobile Dental Van, while the Pantene Style Studio was to let guests try a new computer-simulated hairstyle. “Unity Day is a tremendous celebration and ShopRite is delighted to be part of the fun, but it’s also a chance for us to share some information with our neighbors that can help them enhance their lives in a meaningful way,” said ShopRite’s spokeswoman Karen Meleta, in a statement. Philadelphia’s Unity Day celebrates family values and community togetherness.
