Some of the hottest restaurant concepts out there are busy serving up healthful ideas. Probiotic-infused ice cream, anyone?
According to a new report from food-service research firm Technomic, sales at Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt, which adds live cultures to its blends, grew by 24% last year. Then there's Le Pain Quotidien, a European-style bakery and restaurant chain that serves its coffee in biodegradable cups, growing by 35%. Most impressive of all is Florida-based Salad Creations, which lets customers make their own salads and wraps using any number of their more than 40 ingredients. Its sales grew by 256% in 2007, according to the report.
