Marsh Supermarkets employees dropped six pounds on average during a 14-Week Healthy Weight Challenge.
The 663 participants received a pedometer and weekly nutrition tips, shopping strategies and healthy recipes through Marsh’s digital Fit in ’14 program, developed by Mary Snell, director of nutrition and wellness for the retailer.
“Marsh’s commitment to improving the health and wellness of the communities we serve begins with taking care of our store associates,” said Tom O’Boyle, president and CEO of Marsh, in a statement. “Since the leading cause of death are diet related and thousands of people are living with chronic diseases that not only affect their quality of life but contribute to higher health-care costs, health and wellness initiatives will continue to be a priority for Marsh.”
