McLEAN, Va. — The American Frozen Food Institute here launched a website last week dedicated to educating consumers about the safe preparation of foods using a microwave.
Topics addressed on the site, accessible at www.microwaveovenfacts.com include radiation concerns, the types of containers that are safe for microwave use and food safety.
“Public health and safety is a priority for AFFI and its member companies, and microwave ovens are used to prepare many of the foods consumers purchase,” said AFFI interim President Robert Garfield, in a statement. “This website will offer information on microwave oven units and safe cooking practices, as well as other valuable resources that will further empower consumers to prepare foods safely using microwave ovens.”
