AFFI Selects Naasz as President, CEO

The American Frozen Food Institute here has named Kraig Naasz its new president and chief executive officer.

MCLEAN, Va. — The American Frozen Food Institute here has named Kraig Naasz its new president and chief executive officer. On Feb. 1, Naasz will take over the role that was vacated by Leslie Sarasin in November when she joined the Food Marketing Institute as president and CEO.

Naasz currently serves as senior advisor to Washington Advocates, a government affairs, communications and strategic consulting firm. He was previously president and CEO of the National Mining Association, where he aided the mining industry in achieving its safest year in 2008, and secured enactment of the reform of U.S. mine safety laws. He has also served as president of The Fertilizer Institute, and president and CEO of the U.S. Apple Association.

“Kraig is a dynamic leader and accomplished trade association executive with more than 25 years of experience in the food and public policy arenas,” said AFFI board Chairman James Matthews of the H.J. Heinz Co., in a statement. “Kraig’s passion for the food industry, his bipartisan approach to advocacy and his keen communication and management skills made him the ideal choice to lead our association.”
