SALT LAKE CITY — Associated Food Stores here plans to close another of the Fresh Market stores it operates in Utah on Marsh 25, according to reports.

AFS, which acquired and converted several former Albertsons stores from Minneapolis-based Supervalu in 2009, had since closed two of them in Salt Lake City and one in Provo. The latest closing is in Cottonwood Heights, near Salt Lake City.

“We knew when we purchased the group of stores that there would be challenges with some locations,” said Neal Berube, president of Fresh Market, was quoted as saying in the Salt Lake Tribune.

The article cited the store’s weak performance and its proximity to other stores served by the wholesaler.
