SAN ANTONIO — Spicy food is in the spotlight at H.E. Butt Grocery's Central Market, which is hosting an “Eat the Heat” promotion through March 29.
As part of the event, Central Market is inviting shoppers to describe how hot they like their foods on Twitter and Facebook. They can choose one of three heat levels: Fire Breather, Heat Seeker and Slow Burner. All those who enter are eligible for a chance to win one of 50 $25 Central Market gift cards.
The retailer promotes several products for each of the three heat categories. For Fire Breather, for instance, it suggests Crazy Uncle Jester’s Hot Sauce, a gourmet brand produced in Ohio; Blair’s Hot Potato Chips; and Jalapeno and Aji stuffed olives.
The retailer is also hosting a spicy recipe contest for a chance to win a $25 gift card, as well as spicy cooking classes.
“Explore some new ways to turn up the heat in your kitchen,” Central Market states in promotional materials.
