Giant-Carlisle Adopts Sister Chains’ PL

CARLISLE, Pa. — Ahold’s Giant and Martin’s banners here are replacing private-label packaging with a design imported from sister chains Giant-Landover and Stop & Shop.

Items bearing the colorful logo — introduced as a new banner design and private-label brand for Stop & Shop and Giant-Landover divisions in 2008 — are appearing on own-brand products at Giant and Martin’s stores now and will continue through the end of the year as nearly 2,000 products are replenished and rebranded.

“We are changing our packaging to this great new look for all of our Giant and Martin’s own brand products to signal that we have improved the quality of our products,” Jeff Beaulieu, vice president of sales and merchandising for Giant-Carlisle, said in a statement. “More than 250,000 customers have tested the quality of our own brand of products and hundreds of items have been reformulated to improve upon taste and quality as a result of this consumer feedback. Our consumers can buy with confidence as our new design reflects a great product with unsurpassed value.”

Christopher Brand, a spokesman for Giant-Carlisle, told SN there were no plans to change the store logos of Giant or Martin’s at this time.
