MADISON, Wis. — Mike Eardley, director of deli, cheese and prepared foods for H-E-B Grocery Co., has received the 2010 International Dairy-Deli-Bakery Association’s President’s Award.
The award, which recognizes distinguished service/exceptional contribution to the industry, was presented at IDDBA’s annual awards banquet, the closing event at the association’s 46th annual seminar and expo this month in Houston.
IDDBA President John Sullivan, president and chief executive officer of Norseland, in presenting the award spoke of Eardley’s early association with the industry, via his father’s grocery stores and his later leadership in supermarket foodservice. Having served on several IDDBA committees over the years, Eardley has been a board member for over nine years and was IDDBA president in 2001-2002.
Before joining H-E-B in 2001, Eardley worked for 29 years for D&W Food Centers, Grand Rapids, Mich., a chain known for its innovation in foodservice. There, Eardley worked his way up to vice president of fresh foods.
