NACDS Honors Burnett and Barshay

The National Association of Chain Drug Stores honored and presented awards to Charles Vance Burnett, senior vice president, pharmacy, Costco Wholesale, and Stanley F. Barshay, former chairman of Schering-Plough Consumer Health Care Products for their service to the industry.

PALM BEACH, Fla. — The National Association of Chain Drug Stores honored and presented awards to Charles Vance Burnett, senior vice president, pharmacy, Costco Wholesale, and Stanley F. Barshay, former chairman of Schering-Plough Consumer Health Care Products for their service to the industry.

Burnett, who was instrumental in opening the first Costco pharmacy in 1986 and oversaw the opening of nearly 500 other locations, received the Sheldon W. Fantle Lifetime Achievement Award.

Barshay, recognized as a leader of consumer home and healthcare products and the prescription-to-over-the-counter products, received the Robert B. Begley Award, given to those who possess qualities of great personal warmth, generous spirit, and long-time service to the industry.

Burnett and Barshay were both recognized during NACDS Annual Meeting Dinner and Awards Ceremony on April 27.
