NGA Expands Executive Development Program

ARLINGTON, Va. — The National Grocers Association here said Wednesday it will partner with the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California, and with Unilever, to expand its Executive Leadership Development Program.

The inclusion of USC will allow the association to increase annual participation from 36 executives to more than 50, NGA pointed out. Since 2004 the program has been offered exclusively at Cornell University through funding provided by PepsiCo. Unilver will fund the program at USC.

The inaugural session at Los Angeles-based USC is scheduled for June 10 to June 14 — a week after the next session at Cornell, based in Ithaca, N.Y., from June 3 to 7.

According to NGA, the Executive Leadership Development — designed to provide rising industry executives with the knowledge, tools and resources necessary to lead their companies and drive them to long-term success — involves a week of intensive training that includes high-impact learning opportunities encompassing interactive instruction by academic and industry leaders.

The program is also designed to help prepare independent retailers and wholesalers to respond successfully to business challenges while helping groom the next generation of potential industry leaders, NGA added.
