SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Price Chopper Supermarkets and the Pepsi Refresh Project will award community residents $30,000 to improve their neighborhoods.

The contest, which launched Aug. 26 and runs through Sept. 28, lets people submit ideas for improving their neighborhood. It’s part of Pepsi’s national “Do Good” campaign.

Pepsi and Price Chopper will accept the first 300 eligible submissions, which will be judged on idea viability, impact, concept, timing, cost and other criteria.

Fifteen winners will each get $2,000 to give to a charitable organization, municipality, school or other qualified organization designated by the idea submitter.

“Are you looking to make a difference in your local community,” Price Chopper states in its online blog. “We know that times are tough right now and we want to help our local communities.”

Winning submissions will be announced Oct. 26.

A new website, www.pricechopper.refresheverything.com, has been created to explain the program.
