FORKS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Weis Markets said Tuesday it is distributing 4,000 reusable bags containing free private-label products and coupons to promote its new store here.
The 63,400-square-foot store, featuring Weis' latest design, has a grand opening scheduled for June 26. It will include an in-store cafe selling beer a pharmacy and a fuel station, along with several energy-saving technologies.
This is the third time the company has used a private-label giveaway to promote a new store this year. The value of the products and coupons for this promotion — $67 per bag — has been increased, however, according to Dennis Curtin, a Weis spokesman.
The company also gave away 4,000 bags of private-label product to promote a replacement store opening on June 5 in West Lawn, Pa. Another replacement store is scheduled to open later this summer in Bellefonte, Pa.
