PLEASANTON, Calif. - Safeway's year-old blog has a new name: "Today." The name will be customized to each banner: "Today at Safeway," "Today at Dominicks," etc.
Another new element is that more Safeway employees are adding content to the blog, found on a link at safeway.com. Originally written by one person, known publicly only as “Kate,” the blog now gets posts from employees who specialize in certain departments.
Bloggers are identified by first name only. There’s “Bob” from bakery and Kristina from floral. Additionally, “Scott” and “Amy” will address the company’s sustainability efforts, while “Veronica” will represent the Safeway brand team.
“They all have a passion for their areas and they want to share more of the Safeway story with you,” according to Kate.
Also new is the addition of a guest blogger: Tony Tantillo, a produce expert known as the The Fresh Grocer. Tantillo is a television food editor who also produces the Fresh Ideas Magazine distributed in all Safeway stores.
“Now there will be even more ideas coming to you in this blog,” said Kate.
