Snack Founder to Stay With Acquired Brand

MINNEAPOLIS — The inventive mind behind Food Should Taste Good’s mix of tortilla chips with chocolate, olives, jalapenos and hemp, will stay on as creative director of the natural snack business acquired by General Mills earlier this week.

In a post on the Taste of the General Mills blog, Food Should Taste Good’s founder, Pete Loscoe explained how he dreamed up the good-for-you snacks.

“I wanted to eat tortilla chips with ingredients I ate at other meals. Ingredients like flax seed — I like putting this in my yogurt at breakfast or in a protein shake. Or jalapenos — I love them in salsa or chili. I simply couldn’t find good tasting snacks with those ingredients. So, I created my own tortilla chips and those two flavors were the first I made: Multigrain and Jalapeno,” wrote Loscoe in a Q&A with General Mills spokeswoman Maerenn Jepsen.

Food Should Taste Good joins General Mills’ natural and organic products business and the division’s Cascadian Farm, Muir Glen, and Larabar brands. Terms of the deal announced Wednesday were not disclosed.
