Supermarkets Back Kraft Coupon Initiative

Kroger, Giant Eagle, Albertsons LLC and ShopRite are among the retailers supporting a first-of-its kind online coupon initiative from Kraft Foods.

NORTHFIELD, Ill. — Kroger, Giant Eagle, Albertsons LLC and ShopRite are among the retailers supporting a first-of-its kind online coupon initiative from Kraft Foods.

The retailers are promoting “Delicious Summer Savings,” which provides $50 worth of print-at-home coupons for dozens of Kraft brands. The coupons are available at kraftfoods.com, and also via links on participating retailer Web sites. The offers will remain online while supplies last.

The promotion launched May 11 in partnership with Coupons Inc., Mountain View, Calif. Offers include $1 off any Triscuit, 8 ounces or larger; $1 off Ritz, 12 ounces or larger; and $1 off Planters, 9.25 ounces or larger.

“We developed this as a way to provide consumers with a unique value heading into the Memorial Day holiday,” Basil Maglaris, Kraft’s senior manager, corporate affairs, told SN.

Kraft will analyze results to see how such a campaign could fit into its marketing mix in the future, Maglaris noted. The manufacturer is pleased with initial results. Traffic has increased on its Web site, and consumer registrations on kraffoods.com has climbed. Maglaris declined to elaborate.

“This gives us a chance to strengthen our relationship with consumers,” Maglaris noted.
