MINEOLA, N.Y. — Union pharmacists at 35 Waldbaum's stores have authorized their leaders to call a strike, reports said last week. The pharmacists, represented by Local 338 of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union/United Food and Commercial Workers (RWDSU/UFCW) here, cited concern over pension benefits offered by Waldbaum's, a division of A&P, Montvale, N.J., according to the report Friday in the Long Island Business News. The union and A&P are preparing to negotiate a contract to replace a deal that expired earlier this month.
