Kroger has joined the digital revolution to boost customer loyalty. The smartphone, outfitted with a cleverly designed app, allows Kroger to meet the shopper with marketing, advertising and offers that are both personal in nature and delivered “in context.” Best of all, Kroger says, customers like it that way.

Kroger is rapidly rolling out ClickList, its digitally enabled click-and-collect program because it says customers want more convenience, particularly because of that phone in their hand. The service is called Express Lane at Kroger’s Harris Teeter banner. The service today is available at more than 300 stores.
“We are thrilled that the vast majority of Kroger’s digital visits come from customers using a mobile device,” says Matt Thompson, Kroger’s VP of digital business. “We’ve seen more than 3 billion downloads of digital coupons.”
Brothers Marketplace, Roche Bros’ small-format concept, focuses on hand-selected local and high-quality imported items to serve its neighborhoods.

Store-made prepared selections and minimally processed products are influenced by Milliennial shopping patterns, but company officials say the Brothers concept appeals to “food lovers of all ages.”
Brothers Marketplace offers seating outside and in-store for foodservice customers.
Roche Bros. remodeled the Weston, Mass. store, to expand its fresh foods and add seating, a hot food buffet, and a coffee and tea bar.
Hannford Supermarkets’ employs a simple yet comprehensive guide to better health and wellness. Guiding Stars’ Good Ideas provide quick and easy tips for healthier eating such as healthy, easy burrito bowls using rotisserie chicken, bagged salad and quick-cooking rice.

A Healthy Living Center in Hannaford’s Albany, N.Y., store is equipped with personal lockers and showers, and offers free nutritional instruction and group exercise classes.
Hannaford’s registered dietitians help customers on health and wellness issues in more than 60 stores.
Hannaford finds that the most consequential interactions with its dietitians “happen on the sales floor,” where customers can receive advice on recipes, nutrition and more.
