Giant Food unveils Giant Flexible Rewards
New customer loyalty program offers more personalized rewards
March 10, 2020
Giant Food has launched an enhanced shopper loyalty program called Giant Flexible Rewards.
Landover, Md.-based Giant said Tuesday that Flexible Rewards provides more ways for customers to garner savings and benefits. Those enrolling in the free program can now earn and redeem points in three areas: gas savings, grocery savings and special rewards, the latter including free grocery items.
Members generate points via qualifying purchases, earning one point for each dollar spent. Additional points can be earned by shopping products featured in weekly personalized offers found on Giantfood.com and in the Giant mobile app.
For example, for every 100 points earned, Flexible Rewards customers get $1 savings in grocery purchases or 10 cents-per-gallon savings in fuel purchases. Point totals vary by offer for free item rewards.
Flexible Rewards members earn one point for each dollar spent on qualifying purchases.
“We are delighted to expand our popular Giant Gas Rewards program, which allows shoppers to earn savings against the purchase of fuel at Giant or participating Shell stations,” Ryan Draude, director of loyalty at Giant Food, said in a statement. “By giving customers the power to customize their rewards, shoppers can choose rewards that fit their lifestyle every time they redeem.”
Current Giant loyalty cardholders can upgrade to Flexible Rewards by going to Giantfood.com and activating the new benefit. New shoppers can sign up for Flexible Rewards on the website as well.
Giant said all active Flexible Rewards offers are available on Giantfood.com and in the Giant app, with participants receiving new customized offers each week. To activate their offers, shoppers just need to access their online account. Upon earning enough points, members unlock rewards to save on Giant grocery purchases, gas at participating Giant and Shell fuel stations or to redeem points to choose from a selection of free products.
“This launch is the first step toward more rewards for every Giant customer, where they feel appreciated for each interaction with us, in-store or shopping online,” Draude added. “Soon, there will be more ways to earn and redeem points and exciting partnerships that will include supporting local charities in our communities."
Overall, Giant operates 163 supermarkets in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia, including 154 pharmacies, 81 full-service PNC Banks and 22 Starbucks locations in its stores. Online grocery service, including Giant Pickup click-and-collect and Giant Delivers home delivery, is available through 157 stores.
