SAN FRANCISCO -- The Produce for Better Health Foundation has announced “Fruits & Veggies -- More Matters,” a new health initiative that will launch here on March 19 at an area Safeway location. The in-store event, which will be attended by representatives from PBH and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will feature a fruit and vegetable cook-off between two Culinary Institute of America chefs, which will be judged by a group of local schoolchildren. In addition, the “Fruits & Veggies -- More Matters” website will debut, and PBH will launch a national fruit- and vegetable-based recipe contest in which two grand prize winners will receive an expense-paid trip to the Culinary Institute of their choice, either in California or New York.
