DENVER — Retailers looking to sharpen their competitive edge with on-pack nutrition labeling for their fresh meat can now get help setting up a program online.

The Beef Checkoff Program has launched a guide to help retailers execute such a program in their stores.

The guide outlines what information to include, how to source accurate information, and how best to communicate the information to staff and consumers. It also offers tips on effectively training staff.

“The on-pack nutrition labeling program has been proven to benefit retailers through increased sales, customer loyalty and differentiation from competitors. This guide will help retailers quickly implement important nutrition information on-pack,” said Randy Irion, director of channel marketing, National Cattlemen's Beef Association, which contracts to manage Beef Checkoff programs.
