SN Top 10: Giant, Hy-Vee, Raley's top the week's headlines

In this week’s recap of the Top 10 most popular Supermarket News articles, PLMA canceling the January trade show was ranked as the week’s top story. The Private Label Manufacturers Association has canceled its annual Private Label Trade Show scheduled for Jan. 30-Feb.1, 2022, in Chicago due to the continued debilitating effects of COVID-19 on business travel. It is the second cancellation of the show, which was originally to be held last month. Among other stories in this week’s gallery:

In other news, Ahold Delhaize USA’s Retail Business Services (RBS) arm has opened a checkout-free employee grocery outlet inside the Giant Direct e-commerce fulfillment center (EFC) in Philadelphia. Salisbury, N.C.-based RBS said its “Lunchbox” frictionless technology in the 450-square-foot store enables staff to buy fresh and shelf-stable food and beverages in seconds by scanning in to enter, shopping and walking out.
