SN Top 10: Meijer, Foodtown, The Fresh Market top the week's headlines

In this week’s recap of the Top 10 most popular Supermarket News articles, Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Meijer said that two new supercenters in Brunswick and Canton, Ohio, are scheduled to open their doors on on April 28. Meijer Express gas stations adjacent to both of the new stores are slated open on March 31. Among other stories in this week’s gallery:

In other news, SpartanNash has reaffirmed its commitment to its current board, management team and growth plan after an investor group called on shareholders to elect three new directors. 

Also in SpartanNash news, the grocery distributor has extended its contract to supply private-brand products to the U.S. Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) to Dec. 15, 2025. The three-year extension comes after DeCA initially selected SpartanNash as its DeCA private-label supplier in December 2016, the Grand Rapids.
