CHANDLER, Ariz. — Bashas’ here is working to reassure its shoppers that despite a cyber-attack, credit cards are safe to use in its stores.
The chain said it has implemented “above-industry-standard” security measures to its point of sale and behind-the-scenes systems to protect its customers’ information.
“Bashas' may very well be one of the safest places you can use your credit card right now,” Bashas’ wrote in a Facebook post.

As reported, Bashas’ said Tuesday that it was the victim of a cyber-attack through which the perpetrators appear to have gained access to customers’ payment-card information. Bashas’ located and removed what it described as a highly sophisticated piece of malware that has never been seen before in the industry. The malware has been identified and contained.
“Unfortunately, we’ve learned that in today’s environment no one is immune from cyber-attacks,” Bashas’ wrote on Facebook. “We are working closely with federal law enforcement officials as they investigate this incident.”
