ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Wegmans Food Markets here on Thursday unveiled a list of products that it said will be the subject of a “price freeze” through Aug. 24.
The list includes more than 300 SKUs of product, including both fresh items and a large number of private-label grocery offerings. It follows a series of similar price freezes the company began about two years ago.
“Based on every measure we have considered, it is clear that the simplicity and relevance of a seasonal list where prices are locked in for several months works for our customers,” said Colleen Wegman, president, in a statement. “And, it is not just a way to budget and save money; it’s also a tool for planning a healthy meal.”

The latest list includes 14 different produce items, such as grape tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, lemons, limes and organic salad greens, as well as items selected to coincide with summer grilling season, such as ground beef, boneless chicken breast, Italian sausage and littleneck clams.
Wegmans also confirmed that it will continue to offer free prescriptions (up to a 90-day supply) for Atorvastatin through the end of 2013.
