WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Sue Navratil has been hired as the certified specialist of wine for Hy-Vee’s Ankeny, Iowa, store.
A Certified Specialist of Wine means she possesses expertise in viticulture and wine production, as well as service and food and wine pairing, according to Hy-Vee.
“Sue joins the company’s growing roster of employees with professional training in all aspects of wine and spirits,” Hy-Vee wrote on its Facebook page. “The result is that her customers can be confident they are choosing the right wine for any occasion or meal.”

Certification hinges on a test that includes 100 multiple-choice questions covering everything from wine composition and chemistry to geography and laws governing the industry, according to Hy-Vee. Hy-Vee employs five other wine specialists.
