Bringing home the bacon
Corporate chef Dave Hamlin displays pork bellies that are smoked in-house. The bacon is used in the Market Bistro restaurants such as the Custom Burgers station.
Breads up
The Chef's Grill, the full-service restaurant at Market Bistro, serves warm bread in a cloth basket that has a clay warmer at the bottom to keep the right temperature.
Neil Golub, executive chairman of the Price Chopper board, noted that the quality of the bread served at restaurants is a good indicator of the food to come.
Pursuit of perfection
The tri-tip sirloin steak is a "signature special" at the Chef's Grill. It took months to get the preparation just right, said Lewis Shaye, VP of culinary concepts at Price Chopper.
Fine presentation
The Chef's Grill has a beer and wine license, and will have outdoor seating in the future. The Chesapeake Style Lump Crab Cakes above are served with a remoulade sauce.
Fresh burgers
At the custom burgers station, specialty burgers are composed in front of the customer and retail for just under $7, or a little over $10 with fries and a drink. The cheese steak burger, for example, has green peppers, onion, mushroom, provolone cheese and an au jus spread.
Mangia Italiano
The Italian Market section of the store serves fresh pasta, a variety of fresh sausages and prepared foods such as chicken cutlets.
Chopped up
This Cilantro Lime Shrimp salad is available at the Bistro Blvd section of the store. The salad, which retails for $9.99, includes field greens, grilled shrimp, grilled corn, tortilla strips, pepper jack cheese, red bell peppers, grape tomatoes and cilantro lime vinagiarette.
A chef's touch
Price Chopper corporate chef Dave Hamlin spent time to revamp the pizza options for the new store.
Pizza anew
The pizza is topped with a blend of cheeses, extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil that was snipped directly from a basil plant in front of customers.
Fresh whipped
The ice cream bar has fresh milk shakes, and tops sundaes with house-made whipped cream and fudge.
Lots of lobster
The lobster roll is made with claw and tail meat from the equivalent of two lobsters and is paired with house-made chips. Shaye noted there is just enough mayo to hold the lobster together.
Side of beans
The smoked meat station has been popular at Market Bistro. Above, the pulled pork sandwich is shown with baked beans, which are made with maple syrup and caramelized onions.
House-smoked

Ready for ribs
The barbecue sauce that accompanies the ribs is made with apple cider vinegar.
