Fresh & Easy’s first remodeled “smarter” store opened in late November in Las Vegas — one of eight stores already remodeled. Of the remaining 11 Las Vegas stores, nine will be remodeled by year's end, with the last two set for remodels early next year.
An overview of Fresh & Easy’s new-look store reflects the company’s new approach, with a dining area carved out for shoppers to enjoy items from the hot foods bar, plus a variety of prepared foods that can be eaten in the store or taken home, and an extensive beverage bar.
The new Fresh & Easy stores have a Fresh to Go island in the center of the store offering made-to-order pizzas and paninis; a soup bar; and a variety of private-branded heat-and-eat selections for in-store or at-home dining.
Fresh & Easy’s “smarter” store features a small pizza oven at the Fresh to Go counter in the middle of the store, offering made-to-order pizzas — either individual 6-inch pies or 16-inch family-sized varieties — plus a panini machine back-to-back with the pizza oven for made-to-order hot sandwiches.
Think of a drink — and Fresh & Easy probably offers it at the new in-store beverage bar, which features coffee, lattes, espresso, cappuccino, cocoa, hot teas, iced tea, self-service smoothies and an assortment of soft drinks. The beverage bar is adjacent to the store’s Fresh to Go counter.
Besides a regular baked goods counter, the remodeled Fresh & Easy stores in Las Vegas have a fixture at the front of the store with grab-and-go baked items, including a variety of pastries in a self-service case and Fresh & Easy-brand boxed offerings.
The stores have packaged meat and seafood items in the “Land & Sea” section, adjacent to the “Farmers Market” produce section, which features packaged products in refrigerated cases along the wall plus bulk products on island displays (in contrast to the packaged-produce-only approach the stores had under their previous ownership by Tesco).
