Albertson’s Cos. LLC has appointed Kevin Turner to the posts of vice chairman of the Board of Managers of AB Acquisition LLC, the company’s direct parent, and senior advisor to Chairman and CEO Bob Miller.

Turner is a former chief operating officer at Microsoft, a CEO and president of Sam’s Club and an EVP of Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

“Albertsons Companies is building out its Digital Marketing and Information Technology teams to ensure we are best positioned to capitalize on the dynamic changes occurring in our marketplace,” Miller said in a prepared statement.

Turner began his tenure at Walmart in 1985 as a cashier and climbed the ladder to reach the aforementioned executive roles within the company.

During his time with Microsoft, Turner led the company’s worldwide sales and marketing team as well as the retail stores division.

In its release, Alberstons pointed to Turner’s role in leading both Microsoft’s Cloud Services adoption and the sales and marketing efforts behind Office 365, as success stories.

Alberstons deploys locations across 35 states and Washington, D.C., via 20 banners. The company is based in Boise, Idaho.
