Canadian food retailer Fresh St. Market has added refrigerated pickup lockers at its stores to support its click-and-collect business.
The lockers, positioned in front of Fresh St.'s stores in West Vancouver and Fleetwood, British Columbia, are available 24 hours a day and are accessed via PIN codes for online shoppers selecting to pick up. Lockers are provided by Australian company Vlocker, which supplies similar equipment for the Coles chain there and for other retailers in Europe.
According to local reports, officials of Fresh St. parent company H.Y. Louie have plans to test the locker concept for six months and are considering additional lockers off-site.
Fresh Street is charging $3.99 per order for the pickup service vs. $7.95 for home delivery of internet orders.
