The newly opened urban convenience store Choice Market, located in downtown Denver, combines an elevated level of foodservice, offering made-to-order sandwiches, flatbreads, bowls and salads, with a convenience assortment of grocery items.

Founder and CEO Mike Fogarty said he based the concept in part on his experiences shopping in small-format grocery stores in Europe. Key to the concept is the use of local suppliers for many of the ingredients, as well as technology that facilitates advance ordering and customization.

The first store measures 2,700 square feet, but the company envisions future locations could be larger, with modern fuel centers that include electric charging stations and bike- and car-share facilities. The store is open 24/7.
