Own brand continues expansion across store categories

Upper Midwest grocer Coborn’s has launched a new collection of entrees under its Four Brothers BBQ brand.

The Four Brothers BBQ entree line includes hardwood smoked pulled pork, chicken, ribs and briskets, along with new chef-created sides available in the deli or meat departments, St. Cloud, Minn.-based Coborn’s said.

The products are sold exclusively at Coborn’s, Cash Wise Foods and Marketplace Foods stores and are available hot or cold, fresh or packaged. Coborn’s noted that many of its supermarkets have an in-store smoker, which adds to the sensory experience when customers shop as they smell hardwood smoke wafting through the aisles.

Serving up original recipes, the Four Brothers label pays homage to Coborn brothers Bob, Dan, Bill and Ron, third-generation family members who worked at the flagship family grocery store in Sauk Rapids, Minn., and led the grocer’s expansion. Coborn’s said the Four Brothers assortment has grown considerably in recent years and now includes unique offerings in the bakery, grocery, deli and meat sections.

“This exciting, new assortment of fresh smoked meats and sides will provide our guests with delicious and cravable meal options,” Marti Sunderlin, vice president of fresh merchandising for Coborn’s, said in a statement. “This product assortment is exclusively ours and is created using our own Four Brothers BBQ sauces and made fresh daily.”

Overall, Coborn’s operates 66 supermarkets in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Michigan under the Coborn’s, Cash Wise Foods, Marketplace Foods, Hornbacher’s and Tadych’s Marketplace banners. The company’s retail network also includes stand-alone convenience stores, liquor stores and pharmacies, for a total of about 200 outlets. Coborn’s, too, operates its own central bakery, dry cleaning facility and grocery distribution center.
