Whole Foods shoppers can relax in this airy eating area while observing the hustle and bustle of the store below.
The store’s produce section features display cases that resemble wooden packing crates.
Spanglish phrases such as ‘Real food en su casa’ are also used.
Patterned concrete tile resembling Mexican tile work is used in the bakery.
The store features an 82-seat bar and restaurant called the Thunderbird Taproom. “The eating venues had to be part of the market, while separate enough so you don’t feel like you are sitting in the middle of a grocery store, but at your local bar or coffee spot,” said DLE Design director Barry Jacob.
The taproom features a separate entrance and is set apart from the rest of the store by screen walls.
Many different foods can be purchased and enjoyed in-store or outside at the location’s 62-seat outdoor terrace.
The main section of table seating is branded as Juntos (“together” in Spanish), with painted signage on a wood wall and triangular lighting fixtures suspended over a children’s play area, according to DL English Design.
Workout wear and gear is merchandised beside the store’s juice bar.
The store’s bulk section features organic oats, beans, nut butter and locally sourced honey.
The cheese section is accented with concrete block screens and lively signage.
Coffee, juices and smoothies are served from a drink bar.
Signs and messaging in English and Spanish appeal to bilingual shoppers.
