Boer Seen as Candidate to Succeed Moberg

AMSTERDAM — Dick Boer, chief operating officer of Ahold’s European operations, is seen as a likely candidate to succeed Anders Moberg as chief executive officer of the whole company when Moberg steps down in July, according to reports. Ahold on Friday said Moberg, who took over Ahold in the wake of its 2003 financial implosion, had agreed to resign with one year left on his contract. He was a former CEO at Swedish furniture retailer IKEA Group. Boer was a former president and CEO of Ahold’s Albert Heijn chain in the Netherlands. John Rishton, a former airline executive who had been chief financial officer at Ahold and will fill Moberg’s spot on an interim basis, was also seen as a candidate to succeed Moberg.
