HARRIS TEETER PROMOTES ANTOLOCK, CLONTZ
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two veterans of Harris Teeter have been promoted to new positions, the retailer here said. Rodney C. Antolock has been named executive vice president of operations and merchandising, while Jerry L. Clontz was promoted to senior vice president of operations. Antolock has served Harris Teeter as senior vice president of operations/merchandising since 2000. He previously worked for Albertsons. Clontz, who in his new role will report to Antolock, began his career with Harris Teeter as a bagger in 1971 and rose through a variety of supervisory and management roles, including store manager, field specialist, district manager, regional trainer, regional director and northern region vice president.
WEIS MARKETS NAMES GIGLIO VP OF PERISHABLES
SUNBURY, Pa. — Weis Markets last week said it has named Harry Giglio as its vice president of perishables. He will oversee the day-to-day marketing, merchandising and procurement for the company's perishables departments, including meat, produce, deli/seafood, food service and bakery. Giglio, who has been with Weis since 2004, was most recently vice president for meat, seafood and deli merchandising. Prior to joining the company, he worked for Shaw's Supermarkets in New England. During his 37-year career in food retailing, Giglio has worked in various positions in store operations, regional operations, perishables procurement and merchandising.
TESCO'S IT CHIEF TO LEAVE COMPANY: REPORT
LONDON — Colin Cobain, Tesco's group IT director, is leaving the company at the end of November after leading the IT implementation behind Tesco's first U.S. stores, according to a report from silicon.com. Cobain is considering future options and told silicon.com he is looking for a chief information officer role in either the public sector or another industry. Cobain joined Tesco in 2001 and helped standardize its IT systems for implementation in new global markets, including the U.S. Cobain also pioneered the application of RFID technologies at Tesco.
