UKROP'S PROMOTES NAQUIN TO COO, ZEHEB TO VP

RICHMOND, Va. — Ukrop's Super Markets here has named David Naquin executive vice president and chief operating officer. He joined Ukrop's accounting department in 1979. Most recently, he was vice president of finance and chief financial officer, and he was leading the company's finance committee, which has been overseeing strategic initiatives for the coming year. Naquin also serves on the board of directors. Moving into the vice president of finance position is John Zeheb, who has been director of finance and also serves as a member of the finance committee and chairman of the benefits committee. Zeheb was originally hired as a part-time courtesy clerk in 1976 while still attending high school. After leaving the company, he returned as a part-time stock clerk in 1982, and then began his full-time career in 1987, working as a pricing specialist before joining the accounting department staff in 1989.

SUPERVALU NAMES SHELDON VP OF LEGAL SERVICES

MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu has elected Todd Sheldon vice president, legal services, the company said. Sheldon will be responsible for a variety of areas, including commercial litigation, labor and employment law, pharmacy and regulatory affairs, ethics and compliance, privacy, and food safety. He will report to Dave Boehnen, executive vice president. Sheldon, 40, will succeed Steve Kilgriff, who is retiring from this position at the end of the fiscal year in February after 16 years with Supervalu. Prior to joining Supervalu, Sheldon was vice president and senior legal counsel for Medtronic, Memphis, Tenn., and before that he was a senior associate at Chapman & Cutler, Chicago.

DOUGLAS SUCCEEDS WEGMAN AT STANDARDS GROUP

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — GS1 US here, the organization responsible for setting bar code, data synchronization, RFID and other standards, said J. Alexander M. “Sandy” Douglas Jr., president of Coca-Cola North America, has been elected as chairman of the board of governors. He takes over the position held since 2003 by Danny Wegman, chief executive officer of Wegmans Food Markets. Wegman will remain a member of the GS1 US board of governors. “Sandy is a widely respected champion of global standards and innovation, and he is uniquely qualified to take GS1 US to the next level,” Wegman said in a statement.
