NEW YORK — A smartphone application to help attendees navigate the FMI 2010 show floor and keep them updated on news from the conference is now available online.

SN has launched the app in collaboration with Food Marketing Institute. Features include breaking news, interactive floor maps with mapping to booths, social media capabilities, a conference program, time schedules, and the ability for users to create or update schedules and organize information.

The app will feature links to SN's Total Access blog from the show, as well as news releases and announcements issued by FMI. SN reporters and editors plan to update the blog several times each day.

To download the app, users can go online to the iTunes store and search for “FMI 2010.” An iTunes user name and password are required.

The app is one of several vehicles SN plans to use to report on the events at FMI 2010. In addition to the Total Access blog — which is also accessible through supermarketnews.com — SN plans to post news articles to the main news area of the website each day and in the daily electronic newsletter, and to provide coverage in the print issues of SN following the conference.
