Price Chopper Announces New Perishables Lineup

Price Chopper Supermarkets recently announced several promotions and changes within the executive ranks of its fresh food departments. SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Price Chopper Supermarkets here recently announced several promotions and changes within the executive ranks of its fresh food departments.

Joe Kelley, the company's former vice president of perishables merchandising, has been promoted to vice president of merchandising, where he will oversee perishables, non-perishables, private-label programs and store setup for the 115-store chain, reporting directly to Jerry Golub, senior vice president of sales and merchandising.

Mark Brown has been promoted to become Price Chopper's new vice president of perishables, where he will report to Kelley in his new role overseeing the sales and profitability of the company's produce, meat, seafood, deli, food service, bakery and floral departments. Prior to this promotion, Brown held the position of vice president of bakery operations for Price Chopper.

Also reporting to Kelley will be Keith A. Frosceno. Formerly the store's senior category manager of produce, Frosceno has become vice president of produce merchandising, replacing Mark Vanderlinden, who retired earlier this year. Frosceno will be responsible for all aspects of produce merchandising at the company, including sales, margin, department layout and special promotions.

Dan Koch, formerly Price Chopper's senior category manager of bakery, has been promoted to director of bakery operations, where he will be responsible for merchandising, sales and profits in the chain's bakery departments. Koch will report to Brown, the new vice president of perishables.

In addition to these perishables department changes, the company announced that Jim Mizeur, Price Chopper's former vice president of grocery and general merchandise, has been promoted to vice president of strategic initiatives, where he will report to Jerry Golub, senior vice president of sales and merchandising, and will be responsible for identifying new opportunities for sales and profits at the chain.

Also, the company announced the promotion of Jay Ropietski to regional vice president, where he will oversee the overall operations of 40 Price Chopper stores in New York, Pennsylvania and Vermont, reporting to David Golub, vice president of store operations.
