Opened in March 2019 on a former Shopko site, the Albertsons Market Street store in Meridian, Idaho, is the chain’s largest location, at about 110,000 square feet.
A selection of specialty cheeses stands near the store’s Kitchen department.
Albertsons chief merchant Geoff White said the company positions its floral offering as a “florist shop in a grocery retailer.”
A spacious produce department — also featuring cut-to-order fruit and vegetables plus fresh-squeezed juices — anchors the fresh foods area.
The Meridian store houses a bar serving beer, wine and mixed drinks.
Customers also will find a huge assortment of wine (3,000 varieties) and beer (1,000 varieties).
Meal solutions are a linchpin of the store and range from grab-and-go fare like salads and sandwiches…

… and to hot prepared foods like burgers, gyros and tacos …
… as well as international cuisine such as fresh-made sushi, poke bowls and stir-fry dishes.
Along with an in-store butcher shop, the meat department features specialty offerings like dry-aged beef.
Shoppers following healthy lifestyles can peruse a big “Live Well” section encompassing a full-service pharmacy, vitamins and supplements, and health and beauty aids.
Opened on Aug. 12, the 60,236-square-foot Safeway store in the District of Columbia’s Capitol Hill neighborhood anchors a mixed-use development called Beckert’s Park, which includes residential and retail space.
Besides an expansive assortment of fruit and vegetables, the produce department serves up fresh-cut items, locally sourced produce, and ethnic produce from around the world, as well as premium and fresh-squeezed juices.
A wide variety of organic fruit and vegetables also are prominently displayed at the store.
Safeway Capitol Hill is the only D.C. supermarket that provides one-stop shopping for beer, wine and liquor.
The store’s alcoholic beverage offering also includes a breadth of craft beers, a walk-in wine cellar and a spirits room.
Complementing the extensive wine assortment is a neighboring display showcasing an array of specialty cheeses.
The large, full-service seafood department features a raw oyster bar with a selection of nine local oysters.
Gourmet popcorn shop Nuts on Clark, a Chicago favorite, offers several varieties of popcorn, including an Old Bay flavor catering to the Chesapeake Bay region.
